New website brings unique contemporary jewellery to a wider market

It used to be that unique jewellery was the preserve of the rich and famous. It was for the likes of Wallis Simpson and Elizabeth Taylor; both of whom were known for their incredible collections.

In the last few decades we’ve seen the consumer generations wearing jewellery as a fashion statement, as day-to-day wear. This has tended to be costume jewellery, mass produced, of little value and unlikely to make the wearer feel too special.

New ecommerce jewellery site www.maythomas.co.uk creatively fills the gap between these two worlds - bringing unique contemporary and fine jewellery pieces from emerging, new and established designer/makers to a wider online audience. The definition of fine jewellery is sometimes misunderstood as delicate; actually indicating pieces made from precious metal - platinum, rose gold, yellow gold, white gold and silver.

In the case of May Thomas these include bold pieces - which can still be elegantly worn. Prices range from £250 to £2500. Made from premium metals and precious stones by individual, talented designer/makers; these are investment pieces as well as wearable works of art.

Company founder, Deanne Thomas, herself a designer, has a great eye for coming trends and a clear passion for imaginative, creative contemporary jewellery that can be worn and loved every day. Based in Tenterden in the heart of the Kent countryside, where she has her own workrooms, Deanne travels around the UK and further afield to find exciting new designs.

“Our aim at May Thomas is two-fold,” says Deanne. “There are some amazing designers and makers out there, crafting some striking and beautiful pieces.
